Bright Beginnings Staff
Joanne Adan M.Ed.
I started Bright Beginnings Toddler Program in my home in 1984. In 1991 I expanded the program to also include preschool and moved our site to its present location on Hobart Avenue. As a mother of two girls, I understand the importance and value of finding a program that for the child provides a sense of security and peace of mind in leaving your child. Trying to find such a program was not an easy task. I realized that instead of searching for one, I could provide that environment, not only for my children, but for others.
My educational background includes a California Elementary Teaching Credential, a Certificate in Montessori Education, a Certificate in Administration and a Masters in Education.
For a decade I was an instructor to graduate students at the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, California. Then, for several years I was an instructor in the early childhood department at Canada and Skyline College. Presently, I continue to represent the National Association of Child Care Professionals as the State Liaison for California as we work on raising the level of professionalism and respect in the field of Early Childhood Education. I am also an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, The California Association for Education of Young Children, The National Child Care Association, The Professional Association of Childhood Education, The National Center for Montessori Education, and The American Montessori Society.
As an instructor I was able to share first hand experiences and knowledge with others who want to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. Now I am a National presenter on various Early Childhood and Montessori topics which helps keep me active and involved in organizations and enables me to continue to share my knowledge and experiences. My role as the owner/director and teacher at Bright Beginnings keeps me busy. But, the most important part of my life is my family, my husband Jerry and my two girls, Jennifer and Jacqueline. Their continuous love, support and encouragement enables me to give the best that I have to give.
Jacqueline Adan
Hello my name is Jacqueline. I have been working at Bright Beginnings all my life and I still love it! I look forward to each day not only to see all the children but also to see what new and exciting things the day will bring. I went to San Jose State and received my Early Childhood credential from the Montessori Teacher Education Center San Francisco Bay Area. I also continue to take early childhood classes and attend workshops and conferences to keep myself up to date with all the new ideas and information. I also love baking and enjoy making cupcakes, cakes and cookies for the children’s birthdays especially for the children at Bright Beginnings. I am also taking cake-decorating classes to continue to learn more about my passion of baking. I am very excited about being at Bright Beginnings and working for my mom.
Kevin Cox
Hello my name is Kevin and I started working at Bright Beginnings in the summer of 2008. I attended college at Ohio State University before moving to California. I received my Early Childhood credential at the Montessori Teacher Education Center San Francisco Bay Area. I will be attending San Francisco State University where I will get my degree in Business. Both my parents are teachers in Ohio. My mother is a kindergarten teacher and my dad teaches High School History and Government. I have always been interested in working with children and love the Montessori philosophy and Bright Beginnings has been a perfect fit for me. The families here made me feel so welcome since day one! I love spending time with the children, especially when I can teach them and show them how to play sports such as catching a baseball and playing basketball. I am looking forward to working here at Bright Beginnings.
